There’s a term used by product manufacturers and retailers called “planned obsolescence”. What this is in a nutshell is the understanding that creating products that last isn’t smart from a business standpoint, and this is the concept that drives modern commercialism.
Yet to convince people to buy their products there has to be some assurance and quality and longevity, so while consumers arguably make products that are as good as they’ve ever been quality wise, it’s the concept and marketing behind those products that leaves their shelf life limited.
Video games are just one example. The technology has developed so rapidly that playing on old games on old hardware makes you feel, well old. You feel like you’re missing the next great thing. But aside from the technology, the concept itself behind gaming has changed. Gaming used to be centered around high scores, games that often had no end, or at least no realistically achieved end, therefore allowing players almost limitless amounts of playtime as they endlessly sought to beat their record score.
Game developers quickly realized that this business model was not sound. If they already had a great game that they still had reason to play, it would limit their desire to buy new games. So games began being made with a definite beginning and end. Games also became easier so that end would be more easily and quickly achieved. Once you’ve beaten the game, there’s little else to do. Even if the game is great and would be enjoyable to play through again, there isn’t much incentive to do so without anything driving you on, like a high score to beat. Through this simple switch in business model, games went from having potentially limitless life spans to having less than 20 hours of playtime in them in most cases.
Cell phones are an obvious choice to consider as well, also from a design standpoint, but also from a marketing standpoint. The technology is also there like it is with videogames, constantly improving reception quality, image taking capability, size, etc. As insignificant as some of these things may seem, the advertising and to a lesser extent the pressure that is put on us from others and from ourselves drives us to buy these new products even when the old ones still work fine. If you don’t have the thinnest, slimmest and hippest phones with all the latest gadgets, you’re just not cool, and the advertising lets us know this, or at least, makes us think this.
Some manufacturers take the real easy route, and that is by building things of exceedingly poor quality so that they quickly become unusable. This saves costs on manufacturing and also ensures that that customer will be back on the market for a similar item in the future, though why they would buy it from that same manufacturer is unknown. This strategy doesn’t seem to make much sense from a company’s standpoint, but this is the way of some companies regardless.
Not only is this throw-away society hurting our wallets (with the average household in America now $8,000-$9,000 in debt, it’s also been hurting our environment. To reduce debt check into low interest cards and cut your costs. The manufacturing of these often unnecessary goods throw tons of pollution into the air, while the still fully functioning old products are tossed into the gargantuan landfills of valuable space.
Combating this “planned obsolescence” may be difficult depending on your personality. If you’re a person who values quality and durability over style, you’re probably already doing well to fight this consumerism. If you’re the opposite, it may take a concerted effort on your part to realize how you’re being sucked into buying things you don’t need. Don’t worry about what other people have, let them fall victim to the siren song of ego stroking that new brings them, just worry about your own affairs and what you need to get buy. You’ll be doing yourself and the environment a favor.

Sudoku Techniques Vary Greatly To Reach Same Conclusion
Solving Sudoku puzzles can be a challenge for just about everyone, but every player, regardless of their individual skill level will develop Sudoku techniques that help them solve the puzzles faster. While Sudoku is strictly numbers-based game, there is no math involved in solving the puzzle. Logic and concentration are the two biggest contributing factors involved in successful completion of a puzzle, but different people will use differed Sudoku techniques to come to the same conclusion.
Working one row and one column at a time may be one of the most popular of the Sudoku techniques, but can be somewhat slow in reaching a fitting end to the puzzle. Many players will treat each of the nine sub boxes contained in a puzzle, attempting to solve the smaller grids while maintaining vigil over the remain eight boxes as one of their Sudoku techniques to solve the larger puzzle. This technique however, often leads to many erasure marks, one of the main reasons puzzles are typically worked in pencil.
One of the most often used Sudoku techniques involves stopping when the player has reached an impasse. Many players relate how when they come to what seems to be a dead end they simply stop and do something else for awhile and then return to the puzzle with renewed vigor. Others have found that turning the puzzle 90-degrees helps them see the solution from a different angle.
Right Technique Is One That Works
Not everyone is able to become interested in solving Sudoku puzzles, many believing their limit math abilities will prevent them from achieving success. However, even though the game uses numbers, there is no math involved. The numbers placement game relies on logical thinking and the Sudoku techniques used by most players also help them develop their logical thinking skills.
Some of the most basic Sudoku techniques involves the theory that any puzzle can be solved if the player works one number at a time, one grid at a time, while constantly looking ahead to which number will fit into the grid next. When a player is developing their own Sudoku techniques they may repeat one already in use and then slowly develop their own method of completing the puzzle.
Just like the number of different methods puzzle makers use to develop Sudoku puzzles, Sudoku techniques will differ among those trying to solve them. One of the other more popular techniques used in solving puzzles is the use of certain beverages to help their thinking. While technically it may not improve their logical thinking skills, it is one of the Sudoku techniques that making losing easier to bear.

One of the big questions that come of when looking at Vent hosting is location. Most Vent hosting sites are going to have multiple locations so if you have a wide spread gaming community you need to consider the locations offered by the hosting company before choosing the company. Most of them list this information in public assessable areas.
A very good first step in choosing the location for your vent host is to determine the location of many of the gamers in your group. If you are not already in direct contact with this group, then you might consider gathering this information from a forum or guild where everybody is present and meets online.
Next, what you should do is determine the approximate center location for all your gamers…. this does not have to be ultra-precise. What you are really trying to do is provide a centralized host location so the each member of the group roughly experience similar quality and delays. Once you determine that location, then you pick the closest point to that as offered by your vent host provider.
Now that you have this centralized locations, hopefully each of your members will have equal access to the server and will experience similar quality. For those of you that have been around for a while, you know that this luxury was almost impossible a few years back…. the good news is that with increases in the number of hosts and internet speed, the situation has greatly improved.
Previous to the speed increase in the internet and the larger availability of servers in Vent hosting companies you have to be close to or in the same city as the serve location in order to be assured of a connection to the server. Now you can be anywhere and get a connection. It does however work better the closer you are and most people choose the Vent hosting location closest to them or in this case centrally located so that all members can have access.
With these steps, you ensure that everyone your gaming community has nearly similar quality that is not limited by distance away from the server. As discussed previously, this issue is not nearly as important is in the past but yet these important steps will certainly help ensure your gaming community has the best opportunity to enjoy their gaming experience.

Sure, the market has many different laptop brands to consider but people who want the best of the best, there is only one - the HP Pavilion laptop computer.

Texas Hold’em has grown in popularity through the first decade of the 21st century. Starting in Robstown, Texas, the game first had tournaments in Las vEgas. A group of men, in the 1960’s, brought the game to Las Vegas.
The richer gamblers who frequented Las Vegas took a while to catch on to the game. The game took off once it did get into the more glamorous casinos. Numerous books have been written about it and many televised shows have been made.
Texas Hold’ em’s most famous televised show is the World Series of Poker. Chris Moneymaker, an online contestant to try to get into the series, won and went on to win the entire series in 2003. This act inspired millions of people to attempt to win an online competition to make it into the Texas Hold’em series each year.
As a community type of poker, Texas Hold’em has seven cards of which the dealer passes out two face down and five face up, however, before the deal, the players place blind bids. The other players decide if they want to ante based upon the two down cards they were dealt. The deal then puts out three face up cards called the flop on what is called the window, once all the players have decided if they were going to stay in or fold.
The window is the place, usually in the middle of the table for all players to see, where the dealer will place all the community cards. Community cards are five of the seven that the players will use to try to make a winning hand. Each player is dealt two face down cards that are their own.
The real betting begins after the flop, or the three of the five community cards, has been dealt. Taking the three cards in the middle and their hole cards, players will decide if they have a hand worth playing. They bet on their hands once they have decided if their hand is good enough to possibly win.
The other players have the ability to either see the bet, raise the bet, or fold after the first player bets. A player bets the same amount as the original bettor when they are “seeing” the bet. The players add an amount more to the bet when they are raising the bet.
Players of Texas Hold’em have four chances to bet. The first is, of course before the flop is dealt, then after the flop, and one time each after the next two cards are dealt. Raising a bet, and betting four times can make a pot in this game fairly large.
The game of Texas Hold’em has three different forms. The three forms are Limit Hold’em, No-Limit Hold’em, and Pot-Limit Hold’em. The limit version the bets are set amounts which are called big bet and small bet.
In No-Limit, the person to the left of the dealer starts the betting with the small blind and the next person bets the big blind. The small blind is usually half of the big blind. After each player receives their hole cards, the players who want to stay in will bet equal to the big blind.
When the river, the last card dealt, is laid on the window, and the final bet has been made, the game ends. There is a showdown depending upon if more than one player has not folded his hand. The game of Texas Hold’em ends when the player with the best hand wins.

Simple luck of the draw is the majority of the talent behind playing poker. How well the player can read the cards is coupled with the luck of what cards are dealt in order to get a winning hand. In getting that winning hand, knowing all the different hands that can be dealt helps.
Putting together a winning hand is easier if the player knows the different ranks of a hand of poker. There are only nine hands that can be made out of being dealt five cards. The player has a better chance of winning if their hand is higher on the list.
A high card, one pair, two pairs, three of a kind, a flush, a straight, a full house, four of a kind, and a straight flush are the ranks of poker hands. It is redundant to say that a royal straight flush is the highest hand possible since this is just a straight flush with all face cards. Either way, a straight flush is almost impossible to get dealt.
Getting an ace for a high card is easy to do, but winning with just that ace is accomplished easily. The odds of getting a pair in a game such as community poker is just as high as getting an ace. There is a 42% chance of getting a pair in a 52-card deck.
The chances of getting a pair are much higher than those of getting two pair in seven cards. This percentage is just under 2%. The player has to be careful when betting on two pair because the other player might just pull a higher set of pairs.
The chances of getting three of a kind is just about the same as getting two pairs but beats it. It is smart to assume that another player has three of a kind if there is a pair showing in the window. Be careful if the other player beings to bet higher even if you have a good chance of winning.
The ace has a couple of roles it plays in poker. Any other time than getting a straight the ace is the highest of cards, but in a straight it can also be the lowest. When you pull a straight of 5, 4, 3, and 2, the ace acts as though it is a one; coinciding with this, the higher straight makes the ace still the highest card.
The straight is a tricky hand to get; the odds of getting a straight are less than .4%. Many players have lost a round because they had the makings of a straight but lacked an inside card, such as having 7, 8, 10, and a jack and waiting for the window cards to give out a 9. This is usually a losing hand.
To get a flush, the player has only a two tenths of a chance. When the player has five cards of the same suit, such as diamonds or clubs, he has a flush. If the window in a community game of poker has three or more of the same suit it is safe to assume that another player has a flush.
A full house is an exciting hand to draw. This is because it is very rare to pull a full house because there is a less than .15% chance. It is having a set of three of a kind and a pair, which is almost always a winner.
Getting a four of a kind or a straight flush are very tiny chances. Extremely rare, it does still happen. In a community game where everyone can see the available cards, is it important to remember the chances of getting these hands to help a player in betting and bluffing.

There is no one strategy for winning a poker game. Since the luck of the draw is a major factor in winning at cards, poker is one of the hardest games to master. Many people have become master poker players so it is not an impossible dream.
The underlying strategy of playing poker is to play as if you can see your opponent’s hand. Throughout all the other points made this is the key to it all. If you play as though you know what he has, then you are playing carefully and strategically.
One of the strategies, the hardest to understand, of playing poker is beating the pot odds by having a higher chance of winning. The ratio of the amount of the pot to the amount required to stay in the game is the pot odds. If the pot is $100 and the amount needed to bet is $20 then the ratio is 5:1.
To win, the chance of winning odds must be greater than the pot odds. There are four players betting in this example. With these players, the chance of winning is 4:1, or better than the pot odds.
To either break even or slim down the amount of players, this ration must be met. The chance of winning is greater than the pot odds if four or fewer players are playing, however, if there are more players, the chance of winning is lessened. Those who pay attention to this ratio have a better chance of staying in the game than those who don’t.
This strategy is the hardest to understand because the amount of quick thinking raises as the amount of the pot raises. There is a time limit in most poker games, which makes it harder to figure out the ratio and still have time to make your play. It is a good strategy to take your time, but not a good idea to use all that time to figure out the mathematics of the game.
Deception is the most essential trait a person needs in order to be good at poker. Two key elements of deception are bluffing and slow playing. Also helpful are reading people’s poker faces and knowing their tells.
The principle strategy of poker that every book and website stress is bluffing. You have to make another player believe what you want him or her to believe about your hand. This is the best tactic for winning as you bluff the players by how much you bet on each hand.
Make sure you have a winner of a hand and then bet just above the minimum of the flop and the turn. Never begin a hand by betting too heavily because you opponents will see this as a tell. When you have a bad hand but still want to win, bet smoothly to make the other players think you have a better hand that you really do.
If the player has a very bad hand but bets very low to make the other players keep betting, he is a slow player. Once the other players are deep into the hand and it has become dangerous to stay in, the slow player will continue to bet until the others fold. Slowly making the pot bigger is a very easy deception, unless this has become your tell.
The key to winning is being careful to not show the other players your hand by giving off hints, such as betting too big when you have a good hand. The majority of the chance of winning relies on what cards are dealt, so these strategies will not always work. These strategies, if used right, will help you to eliminate other players.
