Some Tips on a Orlando Vacation

Posted on Thursday, August 28, 2008 at 3:37 am

by Sammy Maseko

When you think of a Orlando vacation, you are probably aware that Orlando is the city of theme parks, but this beautiful city has much more to offer the visitor than just thrilling rides. It is also full of lakes, parks, exhibitions, historical places, markets, shops and much more. Whilst Orlando vacations have been popular for many years now, the number of reasons to visit continues to grow as the number of facilities and attractions increases.

It is a great place to visit even if you only have shopping on your mind as the area is full of beautiful shopping malls, restaurants and shops of every type. Of course this article can only brush the surface of what you can see and do on an Orlando vacation but there is so much more than just theme parks that it would be a shame not to mention them.

The Central Florida Zoo for instance only opened back in 1975 and was owned by the Sanford Fire Department prior to that but is the home to over four hundred animals and is well worth a visit. Even though it is privately owned, it is run by a charitable group with the intention of providing classes for children and protecting species that are only found in Florida and other world wide exotic animals.

You may have heard of the name Tiffany’s but did you know that it was way back in 1942 that the Morse Museum in Winter Park that started displaying the collections of Louis Tiffany. Tiffany glass, clayware and ornaments are all on display here including a specially designed chapel interior shown at the Columbian Exposition back in 1893.

For tourists that like to burn the candle at both ends there is a range of nightly entertainment from the themed family evenings like Pirates Adventure or medieval Feasts to more adult based entertainment at Disney’s pleasure Island or Universal’s Citywalk. Whilst it may seem that Orlando has been created for the entertainment of children that could not be further from the truth as there is plenty here for everyone.

The Orlando Science Center is another of the major attractions of Orlando and its four-story center is the biggest of its kind in the Southeast, offering 10 exhibit halls that allow visitors everything from the Florida swamplands to the dry plains of Mars to the physical body. An alternative to this would be the International Trolley and Train Museum which can be found along International Drive and has one of the nation’s largest operating indoor G gauge layouts in a space of over four thousand square feet.

The Mercado Center on International Drive, is the home to the Titanic Exhibition where you are treated as if you are a tourist traveling onboard the Titanic Ocean Liner; this is a really moving and eerie experience which includes many original objects from the Titanic. For those who prefer a little peace and relaxation they can visit the beautiful lake Eola Park where there are forty three acres of land to roam freely including a boating lake.

Now you couldn’t possibly visit Orlando without a trip to the numerous theme parks including Disney World, Universal Studios and of course not to forget the fantastic Seaworld. Orlando has enough tourist attraction to last a year but the next time you visit, why not try one or two of the others less well known but just as impressive places.

Airport In Orlando

by hispanic

There are a number of ways to get from the Orlando airport to the destination of your choice. The airport is located only three miles from downtown, so you should be there in about 40 minutes. You can take a taxi there for roughly $35 dollars, shuttle for about half that price, or hop on one of the Lynx buses for a mere $1.50. There are also Lynx buses that run to International Drive and Apopka. If you have hotel reservations, then most hotels offer a complimentary shuttle service from the airport to the hotel.

Those of you who have booked in Disney World Resort will find yourselves being shuttled to the resort in a private coach. You also do not need to worry about your baggage as those who have advanced bookings for Disney World can have their baggages directly sent to the resort, bypassing baggage claim. For those who are not staying at the resort but still want to go directly to Disney World, you can take a taxi to the famous amusement park for about US$60. Conversely, you can also take a direct shuttle to there as well. Shuttles go to International Drive, Port Canaveral, Kissimmee, Winter Park/Maitland, and Lake Buena Vista as well as the airport hotels.

The most recommended way to get out of the airport, however, is to just rent a car. Doing so will not only be convenient, you can also have your own personal transportation during your stay in Orlando. You shouldn’t have any problems getting one, too, since Orlando has one of the largest numbers of car rental agencies in the country. In fact, within airport grounds alone, there are at least six car rental agencies in which you can get your own vehicle.

Celebrity’s Favorite Bed and Breakfasts Exposed

Posted on Tuesday, August 26, 2008 at 4:48 am

by Jane Leisteiner

You may not run with the rich and famous, but you can spend a vacation at the same places they frequent. These bed and breakfasts have hosted Oscar winners and fan favorites, and the innkeepers are just as happy to share their hospitality with you.

Maine’s restful Inn at Long Lake is a favorite haunt of actress Meryl Streep and her daughters. Located in Naples, Maine, this 1900s-era Victorian B&B inn features graceful veranda appointed with wicker chairs with beautiful views of Long Lake. Once inside, you’ll find stained glass windows, period antiques, fresh flowers, and a wonderful collection of old clocks. The Inn at Long Lake has 16 rooms, each decorated with Victorian-themed floral wallpaper and antique furniture. Find out for yourself why Meryl Streep is a repeat visitor!

Just outside of downtown Baltimore, you’ll find Grammercy Mansion, a historic Tudor-style gem with 11 lavish guest rooms and suites. Director and Oscar-winner Ron Howard is among the notable guests to have spent the night at this bed and breakfast. The individually decorated rooms range from the sunny Blue Garden room which evokes the feeling of 18th-century France with its antique Louis XIV furnishings and marble fireplace to the extravagant Tudor Room that reminds one of an opulent suite at an English castle. Whatever the choice, guests will feel as pampered as a celebrity with gourmet breakfasts and posh surroundings.

To live like Cybill Shepherd, you must stay at the Swann House B&B in Washington DC. Close to the Metro and the Capital’s many attractions, this 1883 Richardson Romanesque brick manor even has its own turret! Worth trying: The Over-the-Top Girls’ Getaway. Your ‘girl group’ can take over this Dupont Circle B&B’s 12 rooms for three days, and enjoy an all-inclusive champagne breakfast, welcome reception, shopping, yoga, makeovers, massages and jazz clubs. Even if you don’t, the Swann House’s 12-foot ceilings, crown moldings, inlaid wood floors, crystal chandeliers, and elaborate fireplace mantels make it an astoundingly different place to stay in Washington, DC. No wonder Cybill slept here!

Why not treat the man in your life to a lodge vacation that indulges his passion for fishing, hiking, canoeing or just relaxing and enjoying the natural setting of the Blue Ridge Mountains. NFL Super Bowl Champ Larry Csonka is among the rugged guests at the Bent Creek Lodge in Asheville, North Carolina. The bed and breakfast offers close access to all the outdoor amenties, as well as wide veranda lined with rockers and swings where guests can simply enjoy the view. Several guest rooms include a whirlpool tub. Each morning, guests are treated to a sumptuous full breakfast. For a family retreat, consider renting the adjacent Luhn House, which offers three bedrooms, two full baths, a fireplace, fully-equipped kitchen, laundry facilities and a deck and hot tub.

With its country charm and great food, it’s no wonder that guests such as actor Danny Glover feel right at home at the Apple Country Bed and Breakfast in Wenatchee, Washington. From the apple-named guest rooms, such as the Fuji or Golden Delicious, to the plentiful breakfasts, guests will find the cozy bed and breakfast a great place to relax after a day of skiing, biking or hiking. The Washington State Apple Blossom Festival is a popular event each May, and there are several local wineries to visit, as well.

William Shatner and Meg Ryan stayed at the Aaron Burr House Inn & Conference Center in New Hope, Pennsylvania. Relax; they weren’t together! This said, both Shatner and Ryan likely share an appreciation for the beauty of this 1873 ‘Painted Lady’ Victorian home. The B&B sits on the foundation of a pre-Revolutionary house where third U.S. VP Aaron Burr hid for a week, following his shooting of Alexander Hamilton during their infamous duel. Thankfully, the Aaron Burr House Inn offers more congenial (and law-abiding) company today. As for its rooms? Each one has a distinct personality, hand painted/stencilled by a New Hope artist and features antiques, private bath, and air conditioners. Most have brass ceiling fans, and some have canopy four-poster beds and/or fireplace. Clearly, the Aaron Burr House Inn & Conference Center is worth beaming down - er, driving to.

Travel By Air Without Feeling Air Sickness At All

Posted on Tuesday, August 26, 2008 at 4:15 am

by Kurt Schefken

Since ages the motion sickness is a prevalent problem. It was referred to as the camel sickness in The Bible where the camel riders experienced nausea for continuous swaying.

With the passage of time and the development of technology the motion sickness has taken new shapes: sea sickness, car sickness, air sickness and space motion sickness are to name a few of them. In fact, one reason why most people travel by air is that it is a faster mode of travel, thereby reducing the span of discomfort by a considerable degree.

Usually air sickness means the giddiness that is triggered by the motion when an aircraft rises speedily up to higher altitudes. Loss of appetite and vertigo, burping, nausea and stomach consciousness and increased salivation are some general symptoms of air-sickness.

As opposed to some accepted beliefs, air-sickness is not a disorder. It is just the bodys response to some unusual external stimuli. When put simply air-sickness is due to the gap that occurs when people see something distinct from the stimuli they receive in their auditory organs, that is when there is a discrepancy between their sight and sound. This results in a confusion in the brains usual processing of the stimuli.

In case of pilots air sickness is of primary concern. As the surveys reveal, 29% of aircraft pilots suffer from this problem. They find it difficult to maneuver an aircraft due to this sickness. That is why people have come up with various ways to fight this problem.

1. Any kind of anxiety and stress should be put at a backseat. Studies reveal that stress and strain go a long way to cause air sickness. This is because emotional factors also play a role in making it difficult for the individual to cope with the changing environ. As it is, the body has problems adjusting to the changed situation. Additional emotional problems will cause the sickness to be greater.

2. Consuming light meals before a journey, whether on holidays in Spain or just a city over, is the best way of keeping air-sickness at bay. Heavy food with greater salt content sometimes causes giddiness while someone is traveling.

3. When traveling in an aircraft people should avoid too much moving around. Motion induces sickness.

4. Travelers on board an air craft should try and accustom themselves to the situation.

It should be borne in mind that air-sickness is not a chronic disorder of the system. It is a temporary problem that happens due to the clash of senses.

MOR Vacations Personal Branding Explained

Posted on Tuesday, August 26, 2008 at 3:24 am

by Jay NaPier

The personal branding myth has become quite popular with MOR Vacations affiliates. Many think that a website with video is personal branding, but it’s just a myth. The myth has many confused, few even understand personal branding.

Where did the myth come from? I was coaching a prominent MOR Vacations affiliate in 2007 and mentioned personal branding and video as the top ways to market and he took it to extreme. He wanted to know how I’d been winning awards and being on the top seller list. I didn’t have time to explain it all, but what I gave him was enough for him to “think” he knows what personal branding is all about.

When you think about top brands, you think Trump, Oprah, Jordan and Regan. Without saying their whole name, you know I’m talking about Real Estate, TV, Basketball and Communications. How did that happen?? YEARS of building personal brand equity.

If all this wasn’t possible, you wouldn’t be able to “Trump” the competition and Donald Trump wouldn’t be called “the Trumpster”. Years of brand building has gone into making Donald Trump the king of Real Estate Quality. He started with building blocks in his father Fred Trump’s office (also in Real Estate).

Trumps first project allowed him to make a burned out hotel into a beautful shiny building. His big goal of developing in Manhattan was a slow process that worked. Trump was not the billionaire first, he built his reputation first, which allowed him to move onto bigger projects.

Your reputation is a part of your personal brand. It also takes a track record, and being the first person that comes to mind on a topic. “I’m Everywhere” is something I hear often, and it’s part of my personal brand.

The more you learn about personal branding, the more you’ll see how MOR Vacations affiliates are confused about personal branding. You’ve GOT to be Unique. Yet, each website and message for MOR Vacations is basically the same.

To be successful with personal branding it must be unique, consistent, understandable, focused and you must be able to provide a solution that the market requires. I specialize in marketing for home business owners. In my MOR Vacations business, 80% of my coaching time is spent training my team members to be the best MOR Vacations marketers.

Don’t become another statistic and be just another person selling MOR Vacations Network Memberships. Don’t buy the Personal Branding, YouTube, and Google Adwords Marketing BS. Do your research and find a marketing plan that allows you to be successful.
