For someone wanting a feature packed GPS system, the Garmin StreetPilot 2820 has nearly everything. Motorcycle riders especially love this unit because they can use it to basically get anywhere and even control it with their gloves on without a hitch!

The display is nice and big. Some people think everything should be small, so they don’t like it so big, but it makes navigation much easier actually. This unit big enough to see even if you normally wear reading glasses. Its screen works just fine even in sunlight as well. You can easily see where you are headed with the 3D navigational directions. The big screen is touchscreen-enabled, so you don’t have to fiddle with buttons. It also has a handy little remote for added functionality.

Right out of the box, the StreetPilot 2820 is hassle-free. It’s already set to go with a fantastic mapping system of the entire North America streets, as well as thousands upon thousands (millions, actually) of points of interest (also called POI’s). These are things like gas stations, hotels, local attractions, restaurants, ATM’s, banks, churches, and the like. You can just pull it out of the box, turn it on, and get going!

You might enjoy taking a little time though to set up 3 really cool features that the 2820 has. That is it’s MP3 player, audio book player, and XM radio. You’ll need to subscribe to an XM radio provider to use it, but you’ll love the huge variety of options XM radio offers. The MP3 player will play anything you load up and the audio book function is cool because you can listen get some reading done while you drive without putting yourself in danger!

Don’t worry that you won’t be able to hear the audible directions while you’re listening to something else while traveling. There’s a mode you can set so that if you’re traveling down the highway and need to make a turn, it will sound a tone so that you will know to hit the “speak” button to hear your next set of directions. This feature eliminates annoying interruptions, while still enabling you to not miss essential navigation help.

Some motorcyclists have found that the Garmin StreetPilot 2820 is a better option for riding navigation than the Garmin Quest. Apparently the 2820 is much easier to use while traveling down the highway at high speeds. The easier to use, the safer the device, so I’d suggest highly considering the 2820 if you’re a motorbike rider.

The 2820 has a Bluetooth feature that is pretty handy. It has a speaker and microphone that works with Bluetooth compatible phones to allow you to make calls hands-free. If you’re using it on your motorcycle, it’s pretty neat because you can connect both your Bluetooth compatible phone, and the 2820 to your helmet or headset so you can hold a conversation and receive navigational directions at the same time.

The Garmin StreetPilot 2820 definitely is loaded with features. In fact, you’ll be hard up to imagine more in such a small gadget. It’s size, features, and functionality are certainly addicting!
